How to Play WellFight Deal It! Series (DiaFight Example)

Introduction

In DiaFight: Deal It!

You need to defeat

diabetes challenge Focus Cards.

By playing sets of Aspect Cards for the same category. Like Rummy.

Goal of the Game

Your mission:

Defeat both Focus Cards dealt to you by collecting sets of matching Aspect Cards.

The first player to overcome both their challenges, wins.

What’s in the Box

Inside you’ll find:

15 Focus Cards (3 of each category).

75 Aspect Cards (15 per category).

That’s everything needed to play.

Players and Time

Players: 2–6

Ages: 10+

Play time: 15–20 minutes.

Great for families, clinics, or groups of friends.

Every game sparks new ideas and discussions.

Setup

Deal 2 Focus Cards face-up to each player.

Deal 5 Aspect Cards to each player face down.

Place the rest as a draw pile with a discard pile beside it.

Turn Structure

On your turn:

  1. Draw a card from the draw pile or discard.

  2. Discard one card.

  3. Check if you can defeat a Focus Card.

Focus Cards

Focus Cards represent real diabetes challenges.

Each has a category and a Power Score.

To beat one, play Aspect Cards of the same category adding up to it’s score.

Aspect Cards

Aspect Cards show skills, supports, and strategies.

They are colour-coded by category to match Focus Cards.

Use them wisely — you may only defeat one Focus Card per turn.

Defeating Focus Cards

When you have enough Aspect Cards to meet or exceed a Focus Card’s Power Score, place them down.

Remove those cards from play, then draw back up to 5.

Winning the Game

Keep drawing, discarding, and matching until someone defeats both of their Focus Cards.

That player is the winner!

Strategy Tips

Plan ahead — don’t discard cards you might need later.

Watch your opponents’ piles to guess their categories.

Smart timing and patience can turn the game in your favour.

Peer Learning

Each card sparks a real-life connection.

Share stories, laugh about challenges, and learn together.

The more you play, the more natural these conversations become.

Stigma-Free Fun

Deal It! uses playful metaphor, not medical jargon.

It’s a safe, stigma-free way to talk about diabetes challenges.

Everyone can join in — no prior knowledge needed.

Group Play

Ideal for clinics, peer support groups, or classrooms.

Use the game to spark reflection:

“What challenge felt real to you?”

“What skill would work best?”
